We are looking for an enthusiastic, high-energy, hardworking casual vet nurse to join our team here at Animal Orthopaedic Specialists. We have a purpose built hospital which sees a wide variety of orthopaedic and neurology cases. Our facilities include: digital x-ray, CT scanner, Hydro-therapy treadmill, in-house IDEXX laboratory and state of the art surgical equipment. We encourage our nurses to learn and utilise new skills. Primary duties will be: preparing sterile packs for surgery maintaining and cleaning surgical instruments and equipment assisting vets and nurses throughout the day with patients reception duties including entering medical records into our database processing in-house pathology with IDEXX laboratory equipment providing nursing care to in-patients monitoring patient anaesthetics and preparing them for surgery General cleaning and organisational duties The ideal candidate will have the following skills and expertise: Ability to work well in a team as well as independently Excellent animal handling skills Good communication skills with clients and staff Strong work ethic and organisational skills Ability to work well under pressure Pre and post operative patient care Good aseptic techniques and a high level of hygiene Experience in surgical theatre kit preparation and autoclaving of kits Availability would be needed for Thursday and Friday's, with the possibility of extra shifts when coverage is needed.
