A large financial services organisation based in Melbourne CBD are looking for a Principal Inclusive Designer to join the team. This large, mature design practice value innovation, customer research and inclusive, accessible design. You'll join a close-knit design community with regular opportunities to share ideas and collaborate. The working arrangements are hybrid, with 2-3 days a week in the Melbourne office. About the Role: Inclusive Design is a huge focus for the bank, and this newly created role will be instrumental in their mission to bake accessibility and inclusion into the design process. Reporting to the Executive Design Director in Digital and working closely with the Design Systems team, you'll champion accessibility and inclusive design across all digital platforms. You'll influence and educate team members, steering accessibility policy within the organisation, attending design briefs on multiple projects, working with external bodies and presenting at events. Key Responsibilities: Lead the design process to ensure inclusivity in all digital banking products and services, catering to diverse customer needs, including those with disabilities Conduct extensive user research and usability testing with diverse user groups to gather insights for improving accessibility and user experience Collaborate with cross-functional teams to embed inclusive design principles across the organisation and advocate for accessibility in all projects Educate and train internal teams on the importance of accessibility and inclusive design Conduct regular accessibility audits of digital content and interfaces, and collaborate with technology teams for remediation Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in accessibility and implement innovative solutions to enhance user experience Engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels to communicate the importance and impact of inclusive design and incorporate their feedback into design processes Develop and advise on accessibility guidelines in line with current standards and legal requirements Monitor, analyse, and report on the effectiveness of accessibility initiatives, driving continuous improvement Your Skills & Experience: 8 years of experience in digital design, with a strong portfolio showcasing expertise in aesthetic, inclusive, and accessible design In-depth knowledge of WCAG 2.2 guidelines and experience applying them to complex digital experiences Proven experience leading design projects and collaborating with large, multidisciplinary teams, preferably in large corporations Strong presentation and persuasion skills, with the ability to articulate the value of inclusive design to various stakeholders Proficiency in design and prototyping tools, along with familiarity with front-end development practices and their impact on accessibility Champion accessibility and inclusive design across all digital platforms Influence, educate and lead the team towards positive change Advocate for inclusivity and accessibility for all Collaborate with some of Melbourne's best design talent Salt respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the lands across Australia as the continuing custodians of country and culture.
