We are looking to fill multiple roles in the Corporate and Commercial Branch, Legal Services Group. Led by the Deputy Chief Counsel, the Corporate and Commercial Law Branch provides legal advice and support in relation to corporate and commercial legal matters including grants, supplier arrangements, procurements, property and leasing, information law (privacy, FOI, data access and management) and employment law. The key duties of the position include As a Principal Lawyer, you will have responsibility to: provide expert strategic, practical and technically sound legal advice that reflects a deep understanding of the Department's operations and strategic environment manage and develop legal capability of the team by managing and supervising legal work, maintaining a positive team culture, allocating resources and workflows, setting priorities and timelines and developing the team's ability to provide excellent legal services draft high quality documents (including legal advice, briefs, instruments, explanatory statements, agreements and correspondence) work collegiately within the Group's leadership team to effectively manage resources in response to high priority legal work develop and maintaining strong collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders identify and managing legal risk, selecting, briefing and managing external legal services providers help to ensure the Department complies with the Legal Services Directions 2017 undertake other duties relating to the work of the Legal Services Group, as directed.
