About the role: Gamuda Australia is looking to recruit Construction Managers/Directors who will initially focus on preparing bids for our upcoming tenders in the transmission sector. Once a contract is secured, the role will transition to project sites, where the CM/CD will oversee and manage all construction activities. The Construction Manager/Director will have overall responsibility for managing construction activities, construction cost management and monitoring, safety, quality, employee relations, compliance with statutory regulations, and administrative tasks. This includes site stakeholder management, interface management, and ensuring successful project delivery. Responsibilities – Tender Phase: Assisting with the overall delivery of project tender submissions, ensuring the correct construction strategies are implemented, maximizing the likelihood of winning and successfully delivering projects. Ensure that all tenders construction proposals are financially viable, margin expectations can be met, and risk complies with corporate guidelines. Identify and propose construction innovations to positively differentiate Gamuda from its competitors. Ensure tenders construction methodology complies with risk, safety, quality, environment and community management requirements. Prepare or assist in preparation of construction related tender and project deliverables including construction management plan, Health and safety plan, Quality management plan, Environmental management plan, Stakeholder management plan, Risk management plan and schedule management plan. Responsibilities – Project Execution Phase: Assist with post tender negotiations, contract formation, award and project launch, ensuring effective handover from the tender team to the delivery team. Follow up on the progress from tender and further enhance project schedules, documents, and plans. Innovate where possible to improve cost-effectiveness. Manage or assist in managing site mobilization works. Organize and coordinate construction activities in accordance to the construction schedule. Oversee the progress of site activities, including monitoring the performance and work progress of the construction team and subcontractors. Continuously monitor manpower requirements to ensure that project progress stays on target. Promote total job safety and environmental awareness to employees, subcontractors and all persons at the project site vicinity so that safe construction methods and a safe workplace are in place at all times. Key Skills and Technical attributes: Adequate transmission industry technical expertise, good interpersonal and communication skills, effective management of construction team and subcontractors to ensure schedule and budgeted targets are achieved. Ability to select an appropriate route for the line or optimize the already selected route. Optimize and propose suitable access tracks. Extensive knowledge in identifying the best laydown and steel sorting sites. Knowledge of tower pad and tower footing construction, stub settings, etc. Favourable Skills and Technical Attributes: Experience with substation civil works, including bench, drainage, oily water system, and foundation construction. Experience in equipment support structure, earth grid, cable conduit, and cable trench construction or installation. Experience with general HV substation equipment installation. Experience with or exposure to the installation of large-scale and specialized equipment such as synchronous condensers, power transformers, SVC, STATCOM, power flow controllers, shunt reactors, capacitor banks, harmonic filters, etc. Exposure to commissioning and testing requirements for the substation. Qualifications and Experience Required: Degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent. Trade Qualifications relating to the Transmission or distribution lines, Substations or Construction Sector. More than 15 years of project and site experience in large infrastructure projects, particularly Transmission Lines and Substations construction / delivery, preferably in Australia.
