Group Commercial & Legal Manager Location: Sydney Job Summary: The Talenza Group is one of Australia's fastest growing companies having grown from a small Technology Recruitment Agency, to a nationally recognised Recruitment and IT Consulting group operating in three states. Due to the rapid expansion of the business we are seeking a Commercial & Legal Manager to support our recruitment and consultancy businesses (Talenza and Tranzformd) in ensuring legal compliance and mitigating commercial risk. The role will report to the General Manager (NSW) and be a shared resource across both the Talenza and Tranzformd businesses. As the Commercial & Legal Manager, you will have the opportunity to work with a passionate team of Recruitment and IT Consultants and make a real impact on our business. The main focus of this role is contributing to wider commercial initiatives (working on wider business operations projects and process improvements) and being able to work closely with a wide array of internal and external stakeholders. Legal compliance and maintaining risk awareness is also a core focus area across company activites. Provide general advice for all matters pertaining to Risk, Compliance or Law within Australia and as applicable to the Group needs. Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on legal documents such as client terms of business and candidate / consultant contracts. Offer comprehensive advice, support, and end to end management for employment issues, including unfair dismissal and general protections. Provide Strategic Legal, Compliance, and Risk advice as applicable within the Groups commercial functions. Manage disputes, complaints, and matters pertaining to the risk, compliance, and the legal interests of the Group. Oversee the insurance and notification obligations for the Group. Oversee the legal, risk, and compliance notification obligations for the Group. Develop, Provide, and maintain training programs and guidance materials for the Group and its entities on legal, compliance, and risk matters, including data privacy laws, modern slavery laws, anti-discrimination laws, and other relevant laws, rules, and regulations. Draft, review, and amend internal policies to ensure legal compliance and relevance. Develop, and maintain a library of precedents relating to legal, risk and compliance functions with the Group. Manage external advisory relationships to ensure cost-effective and efficient use of resources and specialist services. Collaborate with group entities to assess risks and find mutually agreeable solutions for projects, services, clients and candidates. Work with the Group finance and operations team to review and advise on insurance policies to protect the business against risks. Maintain the risk register and incident reports. Ensure compliance with ISO 27001 standards. Ensure compliance by applying for and maintaining business licenses and permits. Participate and advise on tenders and RFPs for new client acquisition. Assist with due diligence on new clients and candidates to ensure compliance with legal and ethical standards. Establish, advise, and manage the compliance obligation for the health and safety systems across the Group. Establish internal audit, review, and controls consistent with best practice in compliance and Risk management. Collaborate with the entities to build operating procedures around Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for contract performance. Ensuring the Group meets its modern slavery reporting obligations and expectations. Driving engagement with key internal and external stakeholders to develop methodologies, tools, publications and other material on addressing modern slavery risks Collaboratively building upon the Company's strategic response to addressing modern slavery risks, and other human rights risks across core business functions. Developing the capability of staff across the Company's operations to identify, mitigate and manage modern slavery risks. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Law or a related field is required. At least 2-5 years of experience in a similar commercial or legal advisory role, whilst not essential recruitment or IT industry would be beneficial. Strong negotiation skills and ability to communicate complex legal issues in simple terms. Knowledge of relevant legislation, regulations, and best practices related to the recruitment and IT industry would be advantageous. Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organizational and time-management skills.
