About the role We are seeking an ambitious and energetic Technical Services Engineer to work in our high performing North-East Coast Technical Services team. The role is an expatriate position, boasting an attractive remuneration package while working an even-time FIFO roster (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off). As the Technical Services Engineer you will be embedded in the largest open-cut metals operation in Papua New Guinea where Orica operates a Total Load Service (TLS) encompassing the operational and technical component for blasting. The successful candidate will currently reside on the East Coast of Australia. The primary purpose of this role is to provide support to the local team in Blast Design and Electronic Blasting Systems (EBS). Implementation of projects to optimise sites blasting techniques and trialling of new explosive technologies/systems are also in scope for the successful candidate. At Orica, we have the training infrastructure and expertise within the team to train a talented and ambitious engineer in Technical Blasting, therefore we are inviting applicants with all levels of open-cut blasting engineering experience. What you will be doing Providing technical support to our customer on the safe and efficient use of our products; Providing our customers with best practice Drill & Blast engineering support; Managing projects to deliver value and optimise their blasting operation; Working with a range of Orica's Technical Services Engineers and Operations teams to prioritise innovative projects; Developing long-term partnerships with Orica's customers; Taking accountability for delivering results; Continually improving your technical expertise in our products and services. What you will bring 2 years Open Cut blast design engineering experience; Degree qualification Engineer or equivalent related discipline; Solid understanding of Open-Cut Mining, including exposure to operational and technical teams; Knowledge in the drill & blast process; Exposure to the use of Ammonia Nitrate Emulsion products (ANE) and Electronic detonators; An ability to work autonomously, and with limited direction as well as part of a tightly functioning team; Commitment to partnering with customers and your team, always accountable for your actions; A mindset to always looks for better ways to deliver value.
