We supply turnkey solutions, fans, compressors, turbines, blowers, heat exchangers and silencers, as well as a comprehensive range of services including specialised engineering for air and gas handling, project management, equipment servicing and site management. Howden Australia has an immediate need for a results driven Graduate Procurement Engineer to procure all project related sub-contracted, manufactured items (Mechanical & fabricated) within project budget, timeframes and to Howden Quality Standards within the nominated value stream. The successful candidate will be responsible for execution of procurement activities, dealing with suppliers, placing and expediting orders, negotiating with suppliers, and receipting of documentation. They will identify savings through alternative sourcing or value engineering. Your key responsibilities will include: - Prepare and manage RFQ packages to find suitable suppliers that meet project budget, timeframe and meet Howden quality standards. - Analyse suppliers to select the most suitable suppliers who are able to deliver high quality products at competitive pricing. - Manage suppliers to meet objectives related to cost, delivery performance, schedule and quality. - Review and manage the supplier base to ensure consistency with the sourcing strategy. - Perform regular performance reviews with suppliers to drive continuous improvements. - Ensure commercial, legal and contractual compliances in all the procurement transactions. - Adopt appropriate supplier management methodologies and procurement strategies in purchasing to secure better prices. - Ensure all PO's are issued and received in the HAU ERP system as per procedure. - Prepare purchase orders and monitor the selected supplier to achieve project goals - Organise inspections as required for the purchase orders placed, and manage any non-conformances. - Collect quality and inspection documentation for the purchase orders placed and forward to QA for compilation - Follow all Howden procedures and relevant standards including ISO9001, OCHSA18000 and ISO14000. - Manage transportation from supplier to end destination including packing lists and related documentation as per agreed HAU shipping process - Be a proactive team member as part of the daily management process We will offer an attractive remuneration package, above average superannuation contributions, annual bonus, flexible working arrangements, reimbursement towards your health & fitness regime and a supportive culture. What do you need to bring? You will have 2 years previous experience as a procurement engineer, with a background in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Industry or Electrical. You have a creative approach to proactively and independently solve problems, and to generate new ideas. You're comfortable working in an autonomous manner, whilst also being an enthusiastic team player. You display good communication skills, both oral and written with the ability to communicate with people at all levels of the organization. The role holder will be self motivated and self directed, with the ability to handle a number of tasks simultaneously and prioritize workload effectively. Other skills required are: - good stakeholder management skills - Good organisational skills - Excellent negotiation skills - degree in Mechanical Engineering - Ability to read engineering drawings - Computer literate (Word and Excel, PowerPoint) - Ability to analyse bills of material and drawing to understand key requirements - Demonstrated knowledge of procurement and contract procedures and systems - Knowledge and direct demonstrated experience in negotiating contracts and quotations with contract manufacturers and suppliers - Ability to identify cost reduction opportunities - Accuracy and attention to detail - positive attitude - Sound judgement and initiative - Results driven The following would also be highly regarded: - 2 years previous experience as a Project Engineer or Quality Control Engineer relating to a procurement function - Previous experience in the Heavy Industrial Manufacturing Industry for Air & Gas handling Equipment knowledge of ISO and OHS standards To express your interest in this position, please click apply and submit your CV and cover letter.
