An exciting opportunity exists to join the Sydney Children's Hospital Social Work Department as a paediatric social worker. There are two temporary positions with the possibility of extension. The position with well supported with clinical supervision and a range of professional development opportunities, and a highly professional team of social workers. What you'll be doing The primary focus of the position is to provide a comprehensive social work service to children, young people and their families referred from the relative clinical area. This includes the provision of psychosocial assessments, counselling and advocacy. The service includes individual, family and group work and program development. The social worker is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team. Eligibility for AASW membership preferably with post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context. Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, assessment and counselling and a commitment to evidence based practice. Understanding of the issues facing children and their families when confronted with illness and disability and possessing knowledge of the relevant community support services. Demonstrated capacity to build professional and therapeutic relationships. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team. Demonstrated effective interpersonal and written communication skills Capacity to share after hours and weekend on call duties. Competent computer skills and ability to adapt to new IT systems.
