Who we're looking for: A high performing, senior lawyer with extensive commercial contracting experience, and experience providing legal and compliance advice across strategic, multi-stakeholder projects. To be successful in this role, you'll be an excellent communicator, have strong commercial acumen, exceptional attention to detail and the confidence to manage a broad range of stakeholders at all levels of the organisation. What you'll be doing: As a member of the Legal team within the Legal and Risk division, the Senior Legal Counsel will provide legal support to the Virgin Australia Group. Reporting to the General Manager, Legal, your role will include drafting and negotiating complex commercial and IT contracts, working collaboratively with our business colleagues on strategic business-wide initiatives, reviewing marketing and promotional communications and advising on a broad range of legal and compliance risks, including privacy, competition and consumer law and modern slavery. In this role, you'll also support with the delivery of legal and compliance training to business team members, help drive process improvement initiatives through the Legal team's Legal Operation's program and champion engagement with the Legal team in the Virgin Australia Group. You'll be great in this role if you: Have a minimum of 10 years post admission experience working with an inhouse team or reputable law firm or with a focus on complex commercial transactions and contract drafting and negotiation Have strong technical contract drafting and negotiation skills Have experience advising on compliance issues, including competition and consumer law, privacy and modern slavery. Are solutions focussed, with the ability to deliver legal advice, which is both compliant and supports the achievement of strategic objectives Are experienced in managing multiple internal and external stakeholders in a fast paced and dynamic environment Have excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal Have exceptional attention to detail Are comfortable working with Legal technology platforms, including matter and document management systems and have a keen eye for process improvement opportunities, including through the use of technology.
