JOB PURPOSE Reporting to the Commercial Director, the Director of Sales leads the hotel's pro-active and group sales teams, managing all sales activities; creating and executing strategic plans to achieve hotel targets, forming new and maintaining existing relationships, and developing talent within the commercial team. LEADERSHIP - Lead the team in line with Hilton's global Promise to our Team Members. - Develop a culture focused on the core Hilton values. - Communicate effectively within the commercial department as well as within hotel departments. - Ensure attendance at key commercial and hotel meetings. - Develop talent within the team and continue to grow the team's overall competencies. - Ensure succession plans are in place for entire team. - Address performance challenges in a supportive, timely and decisive manner. - Recruitment and selection of the Sales and Groups team. SALES - Develop powerful personal relationships with decision makers and influencers within the top producing Hilton Sydney accounts. - Develop and coordinate activity plans for our hotel for the Hilton Global Sales Offices. - Ensure that measurement systems are in place to track the production of all targeted accounts. - Analyse performance of existing customers, identify the key retention and acquisition accounts for each sales person. - Actively seek out new sources of business. - Develop and manage appropriate travel manager/booker programs. - Creation of sales activities to fill need periods. - Participation in corporate and conferencing sales meetings. STRATEGY AND REVENUE MANAGEMENT - Contribute to the design of the hotel's business strategy. - Actively support the hotel by providing guidance and training in up selling and cross selling skills. - Analyse trends of business by market segment, channel and geographic origin. - Coordinate all sales activities for corporate and conferencing segments. - Fully participate in detailed action plans to support revenue for all sections of the business. - Actively participate in the key management strategies for Hilton Sydney. - Monitor production and profitability of corporate and conferencing accounts. - Participation in forecasting preparation and approval. - Co-responsible for establishing strategy and procedures.
