The Australian National Maritime Museum is seeking an experienced and motivated Assistant Retail Manager to join our Commercial Services team for an 18-month fixed term contact, with possibility of extension. As one of Sydney's most visited museums, the Australian National Maritime Museum shares our national maritime story across Australia and the world, online, onsite and through research, presentations and travelling exhibitions, and provides must-visit museum experiences that delight and inspire. The Assistant Retail Manager will work with the Retail Manager in the daily operations of the retail shop at the Australian National Maritime Museum. With a flair for visual merchandising, the Assistant Retail Manager will lead the casual POS team in sales and customer service and assist in growing the online shop and wholesale business. The key duties of the position include High level overview of responsibilities: Assist the Retail Manager with efficient management and operation of the retail and merchandise business, including fulfilling duties of the Retail Manager during holidays or sick leave. Assist the Retail Manager to ensure the shop is adequately staffed for all periods especially peak periods. Lead and train POS staff in customer service, sales, and product knowledge. Assist the Retail Manager in visual merchandising, promotional displays, cleanliness of shop, and monitoring stock levels to ensure the shop is always well stocked, including providing monthly reports. Assist the Retail Manager with financial reporting processes; including but not limited to EOD and EOM procedures. Take responsibility for the health and safety of staff and visitors within the shop.
