About the OPPORTUNITY Due to growth and new opportunities, we have an exciting role for a Legal Counsel to join our Maritime line of business supporting the Hunter Class project. The role is based in Osborne Adelaide and is a 12 month fixed term parental leave cover. We embrace flexible work arrangements, such as working a 9-day fortnight and hybrid working. Reporting to the Senior Legal Counsel (Head of Legal for Maritime), you will be responsible for the provision of legal solutions to support the company achieve its strategic objectives including delivery of its programs. Key responsibilities include: Providing support to the Senior Legal Counsel and the business, striking the right balance between managing risk and delivering competitive customer solutions Negotiating and drafting contracts in a clear, concise and effective manner and supporting Commercial and Procurement in reviewing, negotiating and documenting those contracts to ensure the Company's legal interests are best protected Providing legal support to the Company's property requirements including negotiating and documenting real estate transactions such as leases and licences Supporting a culture of delivering the highest standards of legal, regulatory, governance and ethical compliance including security, export controls and business ethics Support the Company's legal obligations and commitments including, bid/tender process and related teaming and subcontracting activities and intellectual property rights & obligations Providing ad hoc legal advice to the business as required About YOU Tertiary qualification in Law and requirements enabling admission to practice in Australia 5 years post qualification experience preferably within a law firm or in-house legal department Recent experience in corporate commercial, contract and intellectual property Experience of Australian defence procurement & contracting practises would be desirable Strong communication and writing skills We believe in hiring for potential, we know that some candidate hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
