The Royal Hospital for Women is searching for a dynamic Administration Officer to join our esteemed Maternity Outpatients Department. The Clerical Administrative Assistant is responsible for the provision of reception and clerical services to the Outpatients Department, booking patient appointments, telephone enquiries, registering patients with the service and assisting with the development and improvement of the Outpatient Service. • Managing all phone calls that are directed to the Antenatal Outpatients and have the ability to take down and convey messages. • Responsible for the Electronic Medicare bulk billing and ensure Medicare details are obtained from patients attending the clinics and processing Medicare Claims appropriately. • Create medical record covers for all new patients and ensure files are prepared for new patients and maintain patients' Medical Record Files. • Compile a daily list of patients attending the Outpatients department. Print computerised clinic lists and labels, distribute appropriately. • Complete patient appointments for the Outpatients Department using the manual or computerised booking system and register patients' attendances.   • Check appointment lists for the following days to ascertain new patients and review of any patient cancellations. • Liaise with other Departments regarding the needs of patients e.g. Medical Imaging, pathology etc. • Notify patients of rescheduling or cancellation of future clinics.  Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing. All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.   A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements. In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant. Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position. Ability to work effectively in a busy faced paced environment. Demonstrated commitment to the provision of high level quality and customer focused services. Experience in computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Office suite as well as previous scheduling experience preferable in a hospital/health care setting. Demonstrate sound problem solving skills and ability to prioritise workload Previous experience in a similar clerical capacity Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a busy team environment as well as autonomously Knowledge of Medicare billing practices preferable in a hospital outpatient setting.
