The ideal candidate will remain calm and promote safety amidst potentially volatile situations, adeptly de-escalating conflicts to prevent physical restraint while working effectively within a multi-disciplinary care team. Responsibilities include managing unruly behaviour, providing security services in a demanding 24/7 environment, and delivering basic patient care under nursing staff direction. Join us in shaping the future of healthcare at Bowral Hospital.   What You'll be Doing The Health and Security Assistant (HASA) role works as part of a team, in collaboration with other staff, to assist with managing patients and to provide a safe and secure environment for staff, patients and visitors. HASA are also required to assist clinical staff in the care and comfort of patients, and securing the assets of South Western Sydney Local Health District (SWSLHD). Supporting the care delivery team is at the heart of the HASA role. You will provide support to the nursing team in Emergency Department in the delivery of patient care, under the guidance of nursing staff. You will also provide general assistance in the ward environment, cleaning, provide portering for patient transfers around the facility, and you will undertake security related duties as required by the nursing In-Charge and Security Manager. It is expected that HASA provide the highest possible standard of customer service and professionalism at all times. NOTE: HASA, like other NSW Health staff, must contact the police if there is suspected criminal activity on or around a NSW Health premises. HASA staff must not place themselves, or be expected by others to place themselves, at unnecessary risk in carrying out their duties. How to Apply To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible. Must hold a current Class 1A Security License with the NSW Security Industry 1997 Class 1A, current First Aid Certificate and Current unrestricted Australian drivers licence (P2 Licence Acceptable) subject to obtaining NSW drivers licence within 3 months of appointment. Participation in a 7 day rotating roster that includes weekends, public and school holidays, including morning, afternoon and night shifts. Understanding and willingness to work in a morgue environment. Demonstrated computer literacy at a data entry level as well as ability to operate electronic security systems. Effective written and oral communication skills to communicate with all levels of staff, as well as patients/clients and members of the public. Sound understanding of the application of security techniques including conflict resolution skills, de-escalation and restraint practices. Demonstrated understanding and ability to comply with work health and safety principles, including safe manual handling and infection control. Demonstrated flexibility in taking directions from supervisors and ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
