Wenona is seeking a Psychology Teacher to join our vibrant HSIE Team. The Position The Psychology Teacher plays an important role, providing lessons in Psychology to students in Stage 5. It will focus on providing students the skills and knowledge to understand and appreciate Psychology. The Psychology teacher will work closely and collaboratively with the HSIE Department. Key priorities for the role include: Teaching Psychology to Stage 5 students. Implementing the standards articulated in the Wenona Effective Teaching Cycle. Understanding contemporary teaching and learning pedagogies. Committing to the Pastoral Care and considering the social and emotional wellbeing needs of students. Continuing your professional learning and making a contribution to the broader education community. An understanding of and commitment to the educational needs of young women. A commitment to collaborative teaching practices and an ability to contribute to a team and faculty of professional educators. Utilising ICT to facilitate and enrich student learning and engagement beyond the classroom. This is a temporary, part-time position, finishing up the end of Term 4 2024. There is the potential for an extension or for the role to go permanent. This role requires the successful applicant to hold a valid NSW Working with Children Check and to be fully COVID vaccinated. About You To be successful in this role, you will bring experience in secondary school teaching within the Social Sciences space, such as History or Geography. Having experience in the Psychology field is advantageous although not essential. The role requires excellent communication skills, especially engaging with all stakeholders including students, parents and staff. You should also have an interest, desire, and passion to create engaging Psychology lessons within the classroom. A willingness to or experience teaching another HSIE subject would be favourable.
