Where you'll be working The Sutherland Hospital is a major metropolitan hospital in the south east of Sydney. The Sutherland Hospital campus offers a comprehensive range of inpatient and community services, including surgical, medical, emergency, maternity, child, youth and family, critical care, aged care and rehabilitation. We also provide an After Hours Crisis On Call Social Work Service to the Hospital, 24 hours, 7 days a week. What you'll be doing The Social Work Team Leader forms a key part of the social work leadership group at Sutherland Hospital in Caringbah, helping to achieve this mission using our CORE values of collaboration, openness, respect and empowerment. This is a temporary full time secondment position until March 2025.  The Social Work Team Leader role includes a clinical allocation, and provides line management and clinical supervision for social workers working across clinical areas including; Aged Care, Rehabilitation, Oncology, Surgical, and Orthopaedics. The successful applicant will have a recognised clinical speciality with a high level of clinical expertise and knowledge in these clinical areas. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.    The Social Work Team Leader is able to demonstrate advanced reasoning skills and operates autonomously with minimum direct clinical supervision. They are involved with planning, implementation, evaluation and reporting on clinical services in a particular specialty and are involved in the implementation of SESLHD protocols, initiatives, policies and procedures. The Social Work Team Leader has a consultative role within their clinical specialty. They may also conduct clinical research and participate in the provision of clinical in-service education programs to staff and students. The Social Work Team Leader will assist in operational/supervisory responsibilities under the direction of the Social Work Department  Head, and may be required to manage specific tasks or projects. Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing. All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.   A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements. In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant. Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position. Extensive post graduate relevant clinical experience, including demonstrated commitment to ongoing clinical and professional learning. Demonstrated ability to provide clinical support, supervision and management to other health professionals, technical and support staff. Excellent negotiation, decision making and advocacy skills including the ability to interact constructively and collaboratively with a diverse range of stakeholders throughout all organisational levels. Ability to provide high level advice and education to enhance service delivery and to guide and support others in providing service excellence. Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and to apply advanced reasoning skills and independent professional judgement when dealing with situations of a novel, complex or critical nature. Demonstrated ability to initiate, lead, complete and share quality improvement initiatives and service evaluation processes and lead ongoing quality improvement activities with other staff. Demonstrated experience in providing crisis interventions, the ability to participate in the After Hours Crisis On-Call Social Work Service, and ability to work across a seven day service.
