Our state government client is seeking a Technical Advisor Engineer for an initial 6-month contract with a possible 2-month extension. Rate: Candidates will be submitted at the rate of their choosing Location:Subiaco Hours: Full-time – 37.5 hours per week Duration: 6 months plus 2-month extension Type: Temporary casual contract ROLE DESCRIPTION / JOB TITLE Technical Advisor Engineering The Technical Advisor Engineering will advise the State on the engineering services design for the new hospital. An extensive technical skillset is required for this position including mechanical (including design), hydraulic, and electrical services. Prior experience in complex health infrastructure engineering or similar is a requirement for this position. Extensive understanding in major health project delivery needs and of the industry with well-established relationships with consultants, contractors and other stakeholders is also essential. The respective position holder will have substantial prior experience in health-related settings and will have to possess a strong knowledge and ability to work in these environments. The role will complete the works to the approved scope, budget, and timeframe and in accordance with government policy and high industry standards. Recognising the complex nature of this project, the requirement to consult and work with a diverse set of stakeholders with various needs and different objectives will continue throughout the design and delivery phases of the project. ROLE SUMMARY The Technical Advisor Engineering will ensure the highly technical requirements of the design, construction, testing and commissioningof the hospital engineering infrastructure are compliant in meeting operational readiness and all contractual and regulatory requirements. The Technical Advisor Engineering will provide technical engineering services to the Principal Project Director and the rest of WBHP team including advice related to: - building services design, installation, and commissioning; - compliance with project brief; - progress compliance and quality of engineering services works; and - integration of engineering services, systems and equipment. The Technical Advisor Engineering will be required to lead the technical engineering aspects of the entire WBHP consistent with the Department of Finance’s values. The position holder will be responsible for the planning, control and execution of all engineering related aspects of the project followed by all necessary processes and procedures and other documentation, systems, and tools necessary to enable project delivery. REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, OR EXPERIENCE The Technical Engineering Advisor must have exceptionalknowledge of major health engineering covering design, construction and commissioning, and the ability to refer to lessons learnt from other major health projects. In addition, the role specific requirements include: - a wide range of engineering discipline knowledge including mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, fire, medical gas, vertical transport and acoustic engineering; - extensive knowledge of Australian Engineering Standards and Health Facility Guidelineswhich are subject to change on an ongoing basis; - operational knowledge on Building Management Systems (BMS); - knowledge and understanding of Chartered Institute of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE)commissioningcodes; - Health Infection Control and prevention knowledge;project management experience in dealing with multiple external technical advisors; - knowledge of postcommissioningoptimisation of building performance; - proven ability to establish networks and communicate and negotiate effectively with key high-level stakeholders in a complex infrastructure project environment; - strong issues management and risk mitigation experience with a focus on solutions; - a personal commitment to customer service, integrity and personal growth and learning; - demonstrable, highly developed conceptual and analytical skills; and - a graduate degree qualification or demonstrated extensive experience in Engineering relevant to major and complex capital works delivery in the health sector.
