The Role We have an opportunity for a talented and dedicated Environmental Engineer/Manager to be based onsite at our project works in Rockingham. As an Environmental Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with environmental regulations and managing environmental aspects of the construction and delivery of a new transition tower in Rockingham WA. In addition to working with a high performing team, the successful applicant will receive ongoing project exposure allowing further development of technical and management skills. There will be an opportunity for a strong performer to progress their career and move into senior project and/or offsite positions. Permanent, Monday to Friday local role. Vehicle (or allowance) Fuel card Mobile Laptop included in the package. Works will include: Construction of a new 30 meter high Transition Tower including precast and insitu concrete elements. Underground Pipeworks (1700 dia) including significant temporary stabilisation, Dewatering and Large pit structures. Installation of Mechanical, Piping, Electrical, SCADA and Security installations including relevant connection to existing services. Key Responsibilities: Advise on environmental matters specified in the project's specifications and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory approvals, licenses, permits, and authorisations. Liaise with the Principal and relevant authorities regarding environmental matters, maintaining effective communication channels. Maintain a comprehensive register of all environmental management documents related to the contract. Establish, implement, and maintain the Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) in accordance with the project's specifications. This includes overseeing all sub-plans, procedures, supplementary Environmental and Water Management Systems (EWMS), and making necessary upgrades to ensure compliance with the project's progress. Assume overall responsibility for the establishment, management, monitoring, and maintenance of erosion and sediment controls within the construction site. Conduct regular daily inspections and audits of the works, ensuring compliance with environmental safeguards. Inspections should be carried out at least every fortnight to identify any deviations and take corrective actions promptly. Identify areas where implemented environmental measures are not meeting the set targets, and develop strategies for improvement. Prepare comprehensive monthly reports outlining the completed works, achievements, areas of improvement, and environmental performance. Ensure all nonconformities and any other environmental reporting requirements are addressed effectively. Facilitate and develop material for environmental induction and toolbox talks, ensuring effective dissemination of environmental knowledge to all site personnel. The successful applicant will ideally have: Previous experience in a similar role, Minimum of 5 years of experience in environmental management Tertiary qualification in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or an equivalent field, Experience on Water Corporation projects and construction (desirable) Strong computer and systems skills and knowledge Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to anticipate and mitigate potential project risks. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the project team and stakeholders.
