About the role Reporting to the Senior Geotechnical Engineer, the Engineer Geotechnical will support the Mungari operation ensuring that they are comply with both company and statutory requirements. 8:6 Roster (Thursday to Thursday) 12-hour days Residential or FIFO ex-Perth relocation to Kalgoorlie on offer Long life of mine job security Typical daily activities include; Daily production tasks relating to geotechnical engineering; development plans, blasting plans, documentation of inspections and data collection, geotechnical monitoring, stability analysis, recommendations, and QAQC. Updating and maintaining the ground control management plan (GCMP) and the Seismic hazard Management Plan (SHMP) Ensuring that QAQC, Hazard maps, and/or monitoring reports are compiled and issued. Providing technical support to the mine through the optimization of paste backfill systems including improvements to rheology, reticulation, QAQC, and backfill strength design whilst ensuring that all backfill risks are considered, evaluated, and have adequate controls. Developing and supporting an understanding of excavation design, planning, geological and operational issues to identify and communicate potential opportunities and concerns. Updating and reporting on the rock fall, rock mass deformation monitoring, and seismic databases where applicable. Providing value add technical solutions based on strategic and operational analysis of opportunities within the mine including supporting other business functions with integrated life of mine plan solutions and continuous mine modernisation, through the implementation of modern technologies and systems. Ensure that geotechnical feasibility contributions are of the highest quality by determining design parameters, modelling, and advising on the most appropriate mine design and sequence. About you To succeed in the role, you will have: A relevant tertiary qualification and a minimum of 3 years practical geotechnical experience in an underground mining environment. A working understanding of safety systems, underground geotechnical design and controls, and open pit operations. Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations. Experience using Leapfrog and or Deswik (highly desirable) Familiarisation with the IMS Seismic System & Software Suite (Synapse, Trace & Vantage). Familiarisation with Map3D & Phase2 Numerical Modelling software. Familiarisation with Dips & Unwedge Geotechnical software. This investment will extend Mungari’s mine life to 15 years and double annual production to over 200,000 ounces per year post commissioning.About the roleReporting to the Superintendent Geotechnical, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer manages risks and proactively identifies geotechnical hazards associated with the mining operations of Mungari. Some of the key responsibilities are; ensuring compliance with the relevant mining act and regulations with respect to managing geotechnical risk and updating the GCMP, overseeing the daily operations, designing, implementing and reviewing quality control / quality assurance specifications and facilitating all internal and external geotechnical audits and inspections.About youTo succeed in this role, you will be an experienced Senior Geotechnical Engineer, skilled in working with people, relating, and networking along with having an ability to persuade and influence whilst adhering to our principles and values. Ideally you will have experience working in large underground environments with a track record in delivering results and meeting customer expectations.?Within the role, you will be integral to the success of the Underground and Open Pit Mine and will be excited to build effective management systems to ensure we achieve our goals. It is expected you will have extensive relevant industry experience supported with an appropriate Tertiary qualification.
