The Program seeks to deliver Minor Capital Works and Fleet Replacement to improve the reliability of Assets and aid in the planned increase in throughput of the plant. The projects within the Program are geared at replacement, upgrades and renewal of existing plant and infrastructure required for operation of the mine from pit to export. Lihir is establishing a Project Management Office (PMO) to manage this Program and is now recruiting for the position of Superintendent - Engineering to lead the Engineering and Design function. Reporting to the Manager Development, you will be responsible for developing, supervising, monitoring, and reviewing engineering standards to ensure compliance with industry regulations and best practices. You will allocate resources, set goals and ensure the timely completion of engineering design delivered by external Engineering Service Providers or the internal PMO Engineering and Design team. This role involves a high level or coordination and communications with other departments. Additionally, you may be involved in the recruitment, training and performance evaluations of engineering staff. In addition, you'll be responsible for all design verification as well as ownership of site standards, drawings, and specifications. Essential Criteria Ideally, our preferred applicant will have: Tertiary qualification in an Engineering, Project Management or related discipline, or equivalent experience in the workplace A minimum of 10 years demonstrated experience in a similar role Broad mining relevant work experience essential and across all the mining lifecycle Prior experience leading a team in a diverse cultural environment in a mining context is desirable Proven track record for the delivery of project objectives and established targets is essential Previous experience working in a remote location in a developing country is desirable Proficient in English with excellent verbal, written communication and public speaking skills Computer proficiency in MS Office suite Sound planning, analytical, and problem solving skills Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and autonomously Excellent attention to detail and time management skills to meet deadlines Strong active listening & interpersonal skills for rapport building, conflict resolution & training The Requirements Must be available to travel to site (Lihir, PNG) as required Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment Must be able complete a National Police Check What we offer Lihir is currently offering an exciting opportunity for a Brisbane-based role at our offices situated at 147 Coronation Drive, Milton, offering picturesque views of the Brisbane River.
