Social Worker, Grade 2, Housing Pathways portfolio Adult Acute mental health The Royal Melbourne Hospital Full-time, permanent position available Work within a motivated multidiscipline team Flexible and supportive working arrangements Support evidence based interventions John Cade Adult Acute Psychiatry Unit, The Royal Melbourne Hospital, provides specialised mental health care to consumers in a dynamic environment that strives to, at all times, maintain a focus on recovery and patient centred care. Our unit has a strong commitment to innovative practice around trauma informed care and reduction in restrictive interventions. As part of Pathway 144, a Mental Health Royal Commission recommendation, 2023-2024 will see the John Cade Unit undergo a Bed Expansion, opening an additional 20 beds to our current service. There will be the introduction of several refreshed spaces that will be added to our environment to better support the diversity of people who enter the service and provide more access to outdoor spaces and additional amenity. The Social Worker in the Acute Adult Inpatient Unit contributes to excellence in patient care through social work services and provides the highest standard of clinical input to the multidisciplinary treatment team. This position will hold the housing portfolio for the Unit and requires in-depth knowledge and experience of the housing sector. The incumbent will play a critical role in establishing partnerships and pathways from the IPU to stable and secure housing for those at risk of homelessness on discharge from hospital. Experience in the mental health field, provision of psychosocial assessments, social case work, discharge planning, work with families and carers is required for this role. The incumbent will need a demonstrated capacity to work effectively independently and as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
