Design coordinator- CopperString 2032 Contractors have been awarded the early works contract to support Powerlink's delivery of CopperString 2032. This $5 billion iconic project will initially be approximately 840 kilometres of new transmission line running from just south of Townsville to Mount Isa that will connect Queensland's North West Minerals Province to the national electricity grid. The project scope includes: 500 kilovolt (kV) transmission line from just south of Townsville to Hughenden 330kV transmission line from Hughenden to Cloncurry 220kV transmission line from Cloncurry to Mount Isa Up to six new substation sites. This exciting project will commence construction in 2024 and we are currently looking for an experienced Design Coordinator to join the team. Key Responsibilities Managing design consultants technical drawing/sketch production and review, for construction camp designs, road widenings, intersection upgrades, ERSED, waterways crossings, access tracks and tower pads (note there is very limited structural temporary design required for this role) Review designs in line with project specific technical requirements along with statutory, legislative and construction and operational requirements. Facilitate the resolution of any design issues from a technical and/or construction perspective including External Stakeholder comment close out. Experience with setting up and managing Consultant Contracts a bonus. Requirements for this role: Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Construction Management or other relevant discipline. Minimum 5 years engineering design or construction experience. RPEQ and/ or CPEng is preferred or evidence of working towards RPEQ/ Chartered status. Minimum of 12 months previous experience as a Temporary Works Engineer working on large scale projects. Self-directed learner who can dissect an engineering standard and apply the concepts under the guidance of a senior engineer. Strong commitment to Quality - adherence to prescribed systems and workflows (Teambinder experience preferred). High attention to detail and organisation skills - setting up and maintaining registers to track progress of design packages. Safety in Design (SiD), Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) and So Far As Is Reasonably Practical (SFAIRP) experience preferred. Experience with setting up and managing Consultant Contracts a bonus. This role is based in Brisbane with adhoc travel based on business needs.
