Job Details: Job Summary: This position is responsible for the management, maintenance and support of assigned systems. This position installs operating system patches, software upgrades, software installations, and modifications of systems to ensure systems availability to customer KPIs. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will regularly exercise discretionary and substantial decision-making authority. Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities: Manage and progress incident tickets and assigned tasks to completion in accordance with SLAs. Escalate to management when SLAs are likely to be breached. Contribute to the design, documentation and build of mission critical servers supporting customer applications Maintain state of mission critical servers running customer applications May design, develop, test and deploy new solutions May manage databases May provide Network Systems administration assistance Analyse and troubleshoot faults and make recommendations as to the most effective course of action Provide support to other internal teams Proactively monitor servers and related infrastructure Provide support on patching of critical servers as well as upgrades May troubleshoot network problems and outages; may maintain network cabling including installation Configure and install equipment Plan, document, communicate and execute planned changes through the change management process Develop procedural and user documentation Mentor more junior members of the team, assisting them in their training and development May provide end user training on systems if required Provide out of hours support for scheduled work Provide out of hours for on-call support as part of an on-call roster Assemble and install server hardware when required General Duties and Responsibilities: Comply with Cubic's Quality Management System Comply with Cubic Occupational Health, Safety and Environment policies and procedures Comply with security in accordance with established policies and procedures of the organisations Comply with Cubic Human Resources Procedures Other duties as requested Minimum Job Requirements: Qualifications Essential: Degree qualified in information technology or related discipline, or equivalent experience Industry Certification for Solaris, Linux, Windows, VMware, and/or Networking Skills/Experience/Knowledge Essential: 5 years' experience in a systems administration role preferably in a medium - large IT environment Advanced Server Networking skills Experience with the design, documentation and building of critical infrastructure located in Cloud Environments (e.g. Azure) Expert level experience supporting and building VMware ESX environments. Experience providing high availability services. Expert level: Supporting and building operating systems. Desirable: Experience Hosting SQL database environments. Strong knowledge of LAN and WAN based technologies. Strong knowledge of Active Directory and LDAP. Strong knowledge of SAN connectivity to servers. Strong knowledge of networking protocols (TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, SMTP, ICMP, ICA, SMB). Strong knowledge of operating system hardening. Enterprise Backup experience. Scripting (VBS, and PowerShell).
