As a Patient Care Assistant you will provide a high standard of care for patients in the areas of patient care, patient transport and support of the nursing care team as directed. The Position Transport: Transport patients to all areas of the hospital in accordance with recommended safe practices. Assists with patient mobility, transfers and positioning in accordance with occupational safety and health practices, using manual handling equipment such as hoists and slide sheets under the direction of the Registered/Enrolled Nurse/Midwife. Cleaning: Maintain safe clean unit environment. Strip, clean and restock discharge beds/trolleys/cubicles/bathrooms as relevant to area of work. Transport linen and rubbish bags to the appropriate disposal room (including infectious rubbish). Equipment cleaning and maintenance. Catering: Distribute meals and beverages to patients seeking assistance. Liaise with nursing caregivers to ensure patients receive appropriate diet/meals and appropriate patient dietary needs are met. Prepare the meal table, open packages and ensure patient is positioned to eat and drink. You will have a Certificate III in Health Service Assistance (Client/Patient Services) or similar; or currently studying in a health related field at a tertiary level, well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, knowledge of principles of manual handling, demonstrate effectiveness in working in a team environment. To succeed you will work well with minimal supervision and have the ability to identify work priorities and ideally have recent experience in a similar role in a Health Care facility. We can offer you Salary: $36.64-$38.37 (including casual rate) plus 11% superannuation. We have casual positions available.
