The Moreton Bay College is seeking a suitably qualified Digital Technology Teacher to join the team. THE COLLEGE Moreton Bay College was established in 1901 as a school for girls from PP-12 and now supports an enrolment in excess of 1100 students. With a focus on academic excellence, underpinned by a rich and caring pastoral programme, MBC is the educational foundation for building perseverance, discovering courage and exploring creativity. An historic turning point in the College’s evolution occurred on July 1, 2011 when Moreton Bay Boys’ College (MBBC) and Moreton Bay College (MBC) came together on the premise that they are stronger together. Governed by a single Board and led by a single CEO/Executive Principal, each school retains its single gender focus and its own personality and attributes. Both schools have significant strengths to benefit the other and together have a unique market-leading proposition in private school education. THE POSITION All teachers are appointed by the CEO and Executive Principal of MBC and MBBC and they are responsible to him for the over-all performance of their duties. The CEO and Executive Principal delegates his authority to senior staff members for the effective management of the College. The College offers a very broad program in sporting, musical and pastoral activities which are designed to enhance the holistic development of the students. Staff are expected to participate in the co-curricular program of the College. By participating in the College’s co-curricular program it is recognised that a teacher is contributing to the mission and ethos of the College. As a teacher, you will be expected to participate and or coordinate in the College’s co-curricular program. SKILLS AND ABILITIES The Classroom Teacher needs to display the ability to Articulate a personal philosophy of learning. A broad knowledge of the specific curriculum areas. A broad knowledge of the specific curriculum development with respect to Australian Curriculum. Inspire, influence and motivate. Work collaboratively and productively with colleagues. Provide challenging, student-centred approaches to learning. Communicate and interact openly and effectively. Use technologies effectively in the teaching/learning program. Describe practices in planning, implementing, monitoring, assessment and evaluation. Contribute to the life of the College through the classroom and through the co-curricular program. Specific curriculum knowledge includes Knowledge of, and ability to teach the theoretical and practical components of Digital Technologies, as reflected in the Australian Curriculum. Understanding of the Queensland Digital Solutions General syllabus would be an advantage. Ability to teach HSS would be highly desirable. This educator must also be A self-directed learner. Prepared to approach change positively. Willing to contribute to curriculum development. Flexible in approach and thinking. Passionate about teaching and learning. Empathetic to the needs of students and parents. Totally support the values and Christian ethos of this Uniting Church College. Actively contribute to a safety citizenship culture upholding health and safety policies, procedures, hazard reporting and safe work practices. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Minimum: Education Diploma or Education Degree in relevant curriculum area. Should preferably have experience teaching in Queensland schools or an understanding of the Queensland system. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must be registered with the Queensland College of Teachers. WORK ENVIRONMENT Each teacher is resourced with a desk, computer, shared preparation room and filing cabinet. CONDITIONS AND SALARY This is a permanent full-time position with salary to be negotiated on appointment as per the Moreton Bay College Enterprise Agreement The College operates a 2 week cycle. Sick Leave entitlement of 10 days annually. Long Service Leave entitlement of 1.3 weeks for each year of service, which can be taken after 7 years. The College contributes superannuation on behalf of the employee.
