Join one of the leading manufacturers of automated mining equipment 12-month contract with potential extension in their 5-year roadmap Offering up to $1000 inc super a day - Location Perth, Adelaide or Melbourne Environment One of the world's leading manufacturers of automated and autonomous construction and mining equipment seeks an experienced systems engineer for work on highly automated robotic systems in a challenging underground operational environment. This role plays a pivotal part in steering the evolution of products within the underground ecosystem throughout their lifecycles. You will support requirements, architecture management, and validation within a cross-functional team, often acting as the spokesperson in meetings with multiple levels of management and the customer. Responsibilities This role combines mentoring and guidance activities (practice and standards coaching, development, and conformance) with individual contributions, providing critical technical expertise and outcomes across all project lifecycle phases and the ecosystem. Key duties include: Offering systems engineering technical insights to various engineering teams. Representing systems engineering throughout the underground system's product lifecycle, from defining product needs to solution conceptual design, detailed design, build, and Test and Evaluation (T&E). Maintaining a focused approach on defining needs before selecting solutions, especially when provided with incomplete problem space information. Supporting the elicitation and consolidation of requirements from multidisciplinary stakeholder groups. Developing key program definition documentation, including concepts of operations, operational scenarios, operational use cases, and other lifecycle documentation. Creating systems engineering management documents, including but not limited to System Engineering Management Plans (SEMPs), Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs), and Configuration and Requirements management plans. Supporting the development of internal systems engineering technical guidance artefacts, processes, and quality standards in line with safety regulations, processes, and/or state-of-practice. Providing program management leadership with documentation for gate reviews and other program management activities. Requirements: Bachelor's degree in an accredited technical Engineering or Computer Science curriculum. Minimum of 5 years of experience as a systems engineer in the development of complex systems using applied systems engineering methodologies (e.g., ISO15288). Experience in architecting complex systems involving hardware. Demonstrated excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to perform complex assignments. Strong interpersonal, technical leadership, and communication skills are required. Strong networking skills to obtain resources and cooperation needed to remove roadblocks, ensuring the success of the team. Ability to write and speak clearly about technical subject matter. Experience in documentation and revision control in various forms (git, wiki, or others). Experience in systems modeling toolsets (MBSE).
