The role The 9LV Combat Management System (CMS) is currently operational on both the ANZAC and LHD platforms and development is ongoing on a number of other platforms within the Royal Australian Navy and for a range of international customers. Within this context, the Software Engineer's main focus will be on the specification, design, development, documentation and testing of software components for a new HMI development framework used within the 9LV CMS. Further, the successful candidate will: Participate in the development and maintenance of software components and associated simulators Develop an understanding of the operational use of the associated system under development Produce all artefacts required for deliverables and internal reviews Participate in reviews of software and documentation as required Perform integration and testing of software as required Participate in the generation of estimates for future software deliveries as required Mentoring, coaching and providing technical guidance to other software engineers Flexible work arrangements such as hybrid work from home / office and 9 day fortnight will be considered for this role. About you Your skills and experience will include: Tertiary qualifications in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline Experience in writing software requirements for software within software intensive systems Experience in designing software using a number of formal design Knowledge about contemporary software development standards, principles and best practices Experience with the products, development environment, and the tools used to develop and support software Experience in at least one of the following languages: Java, Python, C# or similar Object Orientated Language Well-developed communication skills (both written and oral) As Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an NV1 clearance.
