Shift Work 2 Year Traineeship Nationally Recognised Qualification Operators are the heart and soul of the Zinc Works, and without them, we wouldn't be able to supply one of the most versatile and in-demand metals in the world. Over 2 years, you will complete a nationally recognised Certificate II in Process Plant Operations, gaining the practical and theoretical skills you need to help safely and effectively meet production and organisational goals. Our traineeship program is the preferred pathway to permanent employment as production operator. While there is no guarantee of employment at the end of the traineeship, the intention is that you will be skilled to work operating and monitoring processes and equipment in a production department. This could be the starting point for a leadership role in a global company. This includes early starts, night duties, and working weekends and public holidays. Excellent communications skills, particularly the ability to safely understand and follow instructions. The aptitude to quickly retain and apply knowledge and processes. The motivation to follow standard operating procedures with attention and care. Diligence in complying with strict safety and environmental standards and legislative requirements, as well as multiple internal policies, procedures, licenses, and permit systems. A growth mindset and a proactive approach to learning. Reliable transport and preferably a driver's license, as there is no public transport to site. Ability to obtain a high-risk work license. The facility uses the RLE process for zinc production. Hobart's key products are SHG zinc, die cast alloys and continuous galvanising grad (CGG) alloys. In addition, the site produces by-products of cadmium, copper sulphate, paragoethite, lead sulphate, leach concentrate and sulphuric acid.
