About the Role Excellent opportunity to gain experience in a dynamic working environment Fantastic residential role available to a junior engineer looking to build experience in the industry or for someone with experience looking for a new challenge in a forward facing commodity. At the Kalgoorlie Nickel Smelter, the Process Engineers role is to provide technical support for Flash Furnace and Ancillary Services operations (Sulphuric Acid Plant, Cryogenic Oxygen Plant, Waste Heat Boiler and Powerhouse). Working closely with the Production Teams and Production Superintendents they are responsible for day-to-day troubleshooting, critical process variable monitoring as well as projects designed at improving cost, throughput and process safety. Reporting to the Process Engineering Superintendent, you will: Provide technical support to the Production Team Engage in process troubleshooting and problem solving Execute cost improvement projects as per the site business plan Complete recovery and throughput improvement projects Monitor critical process safety variables and participate in process safety improvement Provide run-down and commissioning technical support for shutdowns Complete process investigations and develop clear and precise actions About You To be successful in this role, it is preferred the candidate has the following; Chemical/Process Engineering or Metallurgy qualification Demonstrated sound analytical and problem solving skills Strong commitment to safety both occupational and process Strong interpersonal skills and ability to relate and interact with a wide variety of people Ability to work within a flexible and dynamic team environment Experience is not a must, an ability to learn and adapt is more than enough About Our Process At BHP, we are committed to employing individuals who align with the BHP Charter Values and meet the requirements of the role.
