About the Role The purpose of this role is to provide technical expertise in leading engineering strategies, standards and frameworks that ensure the engineering process and design is optimised and enables safe, efficient construction, commissioning, and operation. Reporting to the Area Lead Engineering, your accountabilities include: Employs specific/relevant discipline engineering expertise and leadership to meet BHP's technical expectations. Conducts engineering tasks, verifies construction methodologies, and advises on engineering decisions for projects in alignment with Project/Construction/Commissioning Engineering Standards. Determines minimum quality requirements, executes quality management plans and reviews quality control activities to enable the achievement of quality objectives across BHP projects. Applies an understanding of discipline specific engineering related terminology, theory, key processes, and activities (e.g., process, chemical, metallurgy etc.). Determines the underlying cause of problems and evaluates multiple solutions to ensure a planned and structured approach to solving complex problems. Identifies and assesses risks, makes risk informed decisions, uses BHP's risk management framework, and builds a risk aware culture to support safe and productive performance outcomes. Mitigates people, community, human rights and modern slavery, environmental and climate risks across the value chain, in alignment with public policy and our sustainability and climate commitments. Engages the capabilities of the entire organisation. Strives to achieve 100% safety, 100% customer value and 0% waste. Knows our customer and is obsessed with meeting their needs. About You As a successful candidate you will possess the following: Demonstrated relevant experience in engineering strategies, standards and frameworks roles. Tertiary qualification in Process Engineering, Metallurgy or Chemical Engineering. Experience with Copper or Nickel metallurgy & processing are desirable. Experience in leading a team's achieving innovative breakthroughs in understanding or application of risk-based Process Engineering to inform business decisions. Demonstrated deep technical expertise in processes across Concentrating, Smelting or Leaching. Evidence of technical thought leadership in influencing research directions. Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and adapt to new concepts through breadth of applied science-based work experience.
