About the role Due to an internal transfer Mipac is seeking an experienced Senior Process Engineer/Metallurgist to join our Optimisation team based in our Perth office. We are looking for someone who has worked at the level of Senior Engineer or Superintendent and is keen to apply their process analytics and optimisation skills to deliver holistic solutions. You will take advantage of our unique remote optimisation and deployment approach that enables greater site-life harmony whilst still allowing you to get your hands dirty from time-to-time. You will contribute a processing perspective to a multi-disciplinary team of Designers, Instrumentation & Control System Engineers, System Specialists and Data Scientists to apply fit-for-purpose automation, control and digital solutions that create value for our clients. Responsibilities Engage with customers as a client advocate to understand their operational problems and opportunities. Undertake potential assessments to calculate the expected return on investment (ROI). Apply your operational experience to develop integrated solutions that span all layers of the automation pyramid to holistically solve client problems. Collaborate with Designers, Instrumentation & Control System Engineers, Production System Specialists and Data Scientists to design, specify, deploy and sustain advanced process control solutions. Provide remote and onsite troubleshooting and technical support. Remain at the forefront of process control technology and innovation. Optimise and maintain Mipac’s remote optimisation portal for client knowledge capture and value tracking. Support the ongoing development of our operational excellence software solutions. About You Degree qualified in Metallurgy, Process or Chemical Engineering with exposure to Process Control (post-graduate process control study will be highly regarded). 7 years’ operational experience in a metallurgical environment with exposure to process control, metallurgical accounting, and production reporting (grinding and flotation experience is a must, complimentary hydrometallurgy (leaching, solvent extraction, electrowinning, electrorefining), pyrometallurgy and utilities experience will be highly regarded). Experience designing robust process control strategies. Understand and balance the competing priorities and business drivers that exist across the operational value chain. International and consulting experience across multiple operations, commodities and flowsheets will be highly regarded. Solid understanding of Windows OS, process dynamics, mathematics, simulation, and technical computing. Knowledge of production systems (AVEVA PI preferred) at advanced user/administrator level (modelling and simulation experience will be highly regarded). Superb analytical and troubleshooting skills and methodical approaches to solving complex problems. Excellent written and oral communication skills and client-facing rapport.
