This position is located in their busy Canberra ACT office for an initial 10-month contract. About the Position You will gather evidence to understand and champion the needs of our users and develop content that is simple, clear and easy to use. As a Senior Web Content Designer, you bring together business objectives and user needs to create clear, purposeful content. You plan and undertake user research activities, turn data into human insights and insights into user-friendly content. You understand how words and visual design work together to create a positive and productive user experience. You have experience in user research and are a strong writer, with a talent for turning complex ideas into simple content that helps our users to understand and act. You can confidently articulate insights and best practice principles to sell your work to decision-makers in the department. Your work will focus on the delivery of user research, content strategy and content design for a specific content redevelopment project under the direction of the Web UX team lead. You will collaborate with the broader Web UX team to deliver this project, and the other work of the team where time allows. Duties Broadly, the Senior Web Content Designer will: Be organised with good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Write and edit content for a digital audience. Design and contribute to or lead user research activities with website users. Analyse and report on outcomes of user research. Negotiate and liaise with diverse stakeholders and clients. Be strategic and creative, while maintaining attention to detail. Build and sustain relationships with a range of stakeholders. Help set priorities for the work area, maintain team cohesion, and ensure a high quality of work. See projects through from start to finish, monitoring and reporting on project progress and adjusting plans and activities as required. The key skills and responsibilities of the position include: Provide accurate, specialised advice to business areas to identify, review and rewrite content in line with web usability best practice. Coordinate and deliver online communication projects. Create content that reflects user needs and business needs, including written in plain English. Gather and analyse web user data and feedback to identify insights that can inform content improvements. Plan and deliver user research activities and analyse results. Identify content gaps and ways to improve content structures to meet user needs. Sell the value of project deliverables through verbal and written reports to internal stakeholders. Provide high-quality advice on delivering best practice digital services, whole-of-government digital standards, accessibility, and departmental style. Manage relationships with stakeholders to achieve team, branch and department goals. Requirements/Skills Relevant tertiary qualifications in writing, digital communication or journalism and/or the equivalent work experience in user research and developing content for digital audiences is required. Australian Citizenship is required for this position.
